Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ziya Balta

He was born in Trabzon, Turkey in 1972. After completing primary, secondary, and high school education in Trabzon. He started medical education at the Gülhane Military Medical Academy, Military Medicine Faculty (GMMA) in 1989 and graduated in 1996 in Ankara. He served as a general practitioner in different places and military units in the Turkish Army Forces. (Intern medical lieutenant at GMMA in 1996-1997, 23rd J. Border Division Infirmary Chief in Şırnak in 1997-1998, Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Military Hospital in Şırnak between 1998-1999, 3rd J. in Afyon between 2000-2001. Private Training Battalion Doctor, 3rd J Private Training Brigade Chief Medical Officer in Bilecik between 2001-2002) He started the General Surgery residency programme at GMMA Haydarpasa Training Hospital in 2002 and finished in 2006. He worked as a General Surgery Specialist at Şırnak Military Hospital between 2006-2009. He worked as a General Surgery Specialist at GMMA Haydarpaşa Training Hospital between 2009-2015. As a result of his scientific studies, he received an Associate Professor degree in Surgery in 2015. Between 2016-2019, he worked as an Assoc. Prof. of Surgery in SBU Hamidiye Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery. In 2018, he worked with World-renowned Obesity Surgeons in Belgium, took part in the team of Bruno Dillemans, and gained valuable experience in bariatric surgery. He has participated in over 2500 bariatric operations to date. Prof. Dr Ahmet Ziya Balta is one of the best surgeons in his field, especially due to his military experience. Together with Prof. Dr Mustafa Coşkun, he offers diagnosis and treatment services on obesity and metabolic-bariatric surgery at an international medical platform, Flash Cure Med. Prof. Dr Ahmet Ziya Balta also is a member of various national and international bariatric surgery organizations, especially General Surgery associations.
